ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad high court on Wednesday asked the state government to file an affidavit stating why certain policemen were not transferred after the killing of a Deputy SP in Kunda, Pratapgarh on the request of the Central Bureau of Investigation through a letter to the government.
Hearing the writ petition filed by 88 policemen out of 111 transferred police personnel posted at four police stations under Kunda circle, Justice V K Shukla also asked the state counsel to produce the documents of CBI sent to the state government and director general of police for transfer of personnel in Kunda of Pratapgarh district.
As many as 88 policemen have filed writ petition challenging their transfer from Kunda (Pratapgarh) to Chitrakoot and Banda districts on various grounds.
It was pointed out by the petitioner's counsel, Vijay Gautam that 88 police personnel were transferred by the order of the inspector general Allahabad zone on the request of CBI but some of the policemen close to former cabinet minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya were spared.
Seeking a short affidavit from the state government to explain its stance, the court directed to hear the case on April 15.The petitioners alleged their transfers were at the instance of the independent MLA and former UP Cabinet minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya who had been named an accused in the murder case of Dy SP Zia-ul-Haq and two others.The transferred cops were posted in Manikpur, Nawabganj, Kunda and Hathgawan police stations of Pratapgarh district.The Dy SP was believed to have been killed by a mob on March 2 in Balipur village in Kunda where violence had erupted after village pradhan Nanhe Yadav was gunned down earlier in the day.
